This project is designed as an example of how we can produce items that could only be easily made on a CNC system. The candle was machined on the 4th axis.

I would probably only use this as a teaching aid.

Candle Holder

This relatively simple candle holder and candle were made using two processes. Tha base was made from sapielle and used multiple shaped cutters to achieve a very ornate look in minutes. The candle was cut from a 200mm by 70mm church candle with reasonable success using the rotary attachment.

The Candle

The candle was made from a 200mm by 70mm diameter church candle. The origin drawing being made in Pro desktop.

Loading the STL file into GEOCAM and then machine using the rotary attachment the results were not as good as expected due to swarf re-welding itself to the cut surface making it rough. The addition of more keretin during moulding could hep by producing a harder wax.

The Base

The base was cut using four tools.

from the following 2D draw image.

Candle Base

The first cutter is a straight 12.7MM cutter and this machines on area the red to a depth of 25mm. Then non to the brown line to a depth of 35mm.

This is followed by a rounded cutter 12.7mm diameter which runs round the blue lines to 25mm depth.

Third a 6.35 overlo cutter runs round the green to a depth of 5mm,,

followed by the magenta.

And finally the orange with a 6.35 mm straight cutter to a depth of 10mm.

In a few short minutes you have a very stylish.
