Frottage is not a ptoject in itself but a departmental resource. At keystage 3 it is very hard to get some pupils into the idea of making portfolio covers. This system using the brass rubbing principle allows the "Colouring in" of areas with an exciting look.

Whilst edge colour will always give the most erodite look to any cover, sometimes it is necessary to help poupils with shorter attention spans.

At keystage 3 I would start most projects with the production of the cover page it is good practice and once pupiles have been taught six line word moulding, it will result in them being able to create a cover in the first lesson.

At keystage 4 I would be expecting pupils to be used to making cover pages and would be looking to help pupils that are still struggling whilst bolstering the pupils with good skills.

In frottage the artist takes a pencil or other drawing tool and makes a "rubbing" over a textured surface. These files enable a laser cutter to engrave a design into a piece of acrylic sheet for use as a rubbing / textured background for use in graphics when filling shapes or letters.

Bricks
These images will make a series of patterns that will allow you to create a set of your own frottage sheets out of acrylic on the laser. Remember to put a different pattern on each side of the sheet.
I have not put any cutting lines in these files as i am sure you can decide how large you wish to machine them and what shape and where any storage hook holes need to be.
