CORRIFLEX - Toolbox |
|||||||||
Since I first met Corriflex I have always wanted to make a project using the material. it has very good linear strength in one direction and like corrugated cardboard will fold relatively easy in the second. A number of plastic fittings have been made to joint panels together and 3mm axles will run through the holes along the length. For this reason it is used in many small vehicle and robot applications. I met it again recently used in an industrial application which made me revisit the material with renewed interest. The application was a new lighting kit for filming. The unit held 4x50watt fluorescent bulbs and the electronics to run the bulbs. The whole unit was made from Corriflex with part of the skin removed on the inside of the folds to make folding easier.
The edges have additional strengtheners that are riveted to the Corriflex and a flexible metal rod that holds the Corriflex in place during operation.
THE TOOLBOXI decide to approach the toolbox as a net. The folds would be cut to the depth of 2mm and the edged cut right through using the 3mm acrylic cutter.
The black lines are cut through 5mm The red lines are cut 2-3mm deep. The blue squares are also cut 2-3mm deep. The unit is then folded and glued together.
