As it says in the main text this design was made to enable me to take a full stand to the 2011 D&T show. I have included pictures of the finished display at the show.

I have also located some video of the Ikea Factory for your use in class.

This project is again included at all levels as brain fodder.

With the videos make an interesting start to any furniture project.

I spent many hours designing the exhibition stand in laser cut 3mm MDF and it is interesting how this system can make you view shelving in a totally different way without leaving the basic rectangular format..

You will see that the final stand shelves were very complex and were built on the day before the show.

This project is intended to serve a number of purposes the first being a display stand for the 2011 D&T show, it also would serve as a school display unit that can be stored away flat after use.

It also is intended to show pupils about dry jointing that can be unassembled.

One of the advantages of having the A1 in your entourage of machines comes when you need to make a real world piece of furniture, it's ability to handle a 1220mm by 610mm or 2ft by 4ft sheet opens up a number of large scale project possibilities.

As part of preparing for this years D&T show I wanted to take a number of shelving systems to help display the projects in an interesting manner. To keep transporting space to a minimum I also wanted the units to be able to be flat packed for the journey.
