Aimed at schools that have a video content to their media courses. This project uses a smart material in a true working context. The project is intended to allow the camera operator to get smooth panning shots from a cheap tripod by adding a fluid block between the tripod and the camera, smooth pans without any sticks or glitches add that high budget movie feel to any production. Before assembly the disks need to be covered in Damping Grease. Each grease has its own vicosity.
If you are using the farnell grease then one side of two disks needs to be covered (ensure they face out to run on the square sections. If you are using the MUTR grease then half of one side will be enough. It is worth dry fitting the unit and holding it with tape whilst a test is made to ensure you are happy with the level of drag.
