This projects is one of the few that is directed at solving teaching problems. It is still, however, an in class example of computer aided manufacture and jointing techniques.

I would use this when I needed a quick example of the jointing system I developed where the pieces are made size for size, i.e. the tongue is the same size as the hole and nothing is done to remove the radius at the bottom of the cut as this becomes part for the interference fit that means sash cramps are very rarely needed when gluing up.

I have included the Ikea resources here as they are specialists at making furniture from board.

One of the first classroom aids I built when I became a teacher was a paper and pencil store. Having a single box that holds a full ream of A3 & A4 paper pencils, scissors and rulers that can easily be checked at the end of each lesson is invaluable. Miss Jewell spent a week at Boxford as part of her PGCE training, choosing Boxford as her industrial experience. I wanted to ensure that she came out of this week with a project that would probably go through her whole career, hence I took the opportunity to resurrect the Teachers PET, using the power of CAD/CAM and the Boxford A1.

This project achieves a number of objects not least that it is a central point for materials. Secondly it serves as a ready in class teaching example of jointing and how CAD/CAM can be used.
